As far as I remember they’re demanding a fuel duty rebate FOR VEHICLES OPERATING ON O LICENCES ONLY.
If they get their way it will be cheaper to operate a 7.5t than your Luton.
Same as the RHA demands everyone got behind – rebated blue diesel for operators of O licenced vehicles. Useless for most ‘couriers’.

You’ve got to go back a few years to what the same people were demanding – I think “essential commercial users” = “hire & reward in vehicles requiring an O licence”. I could be wrong, but I suspect not. I clearly remember a lot of the behind the scenes discussion from a few years back.
I’ve been banging on about replacing duty with VAT for about 10 years now, I’ve been told (by people who should know) that it can’t happen because of EU rules – but nobody can point me to the ‘rules’ and, for once, I can’t find it for myself.
If it was allowed it would be a perfect solution to the problem – for us anyway.
Farmers are just as much (more really) up in arms as they were before. Transport to their buyers is still costing as much as you’d expect. ANIMAL farmers (the ones behind the original protests) are even more pissed off than the were before – transport costs more, feed for the animals costs more and the ONLY customers for the commodity produce (basic meat & milk) are still the supermarkets trying to push the prices down.
Arable farmers growing food grade produce are indeed quite happy at the moment.
They’re meant to be concentrating on the A40 and parking up on the Westway so (guessing) approaching Euston via the A41 or (better) the A1 shouldn’t be a problem.
