Cheap Fuel

I was vaguely thinking it might be worth the effort to put a map together showing cheap petrol stations near motorway and major trunk route junctions.

Does the modern satnav enabled courier already have this sort of information available to them or do they rely on knowledge and luck like I used to?

Would it be a worthwhile waste of a few hours of my time?

There’s petrolprices.com but it doesn’t really do what I had in mind. i was thinking more of places that you could use as an alternative to paying motorway prices without delaying your trip. Tesco at the Reebok for example – half a mile off the M61 but if you’re from out of the area you probably wouldn’t know it was there. Or the Shell, Sainsburys, Asda stations on the A41 north of Watford – adds 5 minutes and no miles onto your (well not yours Pat) journey home from London and saves you a fortune on fuel.

I’ve just started working on a map – give me a few minutes and I’ll post a link with a few examples shown.

John, the idea is to list anywhere with reasonable priced fuel, very convenient for a motorway or major trunk route junction (A50, A34, A14 etc). I can come up with 10-15 of them off the top of my head (all over 3 years old though!) but I only know the ones which are handy for my journeys to and from Manchester.

Just a start – is it worth carrying on with? Can you see it on a PDA? Cheap Fuel Near Motorway Junctions
