Hmm, an exchange site that’s linked to a transport company and offers access to end users. I can hardly contain my enthusiasm.

And what transport company are we linked to then Alec?

    Don’t you know?

Why don’t you tell us about any transport companies that you may be linked with?

like who? My brother is an owner driver with one lorry. If having tranport in the family is a crime then im guilty. If we were all fish farmers then we would have started a fish farming website wouldnt we. How do you expect people to run a transport siteif they havent got any knowledge of transport?

Chambers Bros Ltd own the domain name Therefore your website is owned by a transport company. Your brother Ryan is a co-director of Ltd and is also a director of Chambers Bros Ltd. I can’t be bothered checking but I think it’s fair to assume that the other Chambers brother is also a director of Chambers Bros Ltd, unless Ryan’s just a big music fan.

Personally I have a deep suspicion of transport companies that set up freight exchanges and forget to mention their involvement. There is always the chance that they may be tempted to cherry-pick work for themselves or use information gleaned from their members’ activities to further their own transport company’s commercial success.

Add that to the fact that you’ve been illegally spamming my email and have ignored my unsubscribe requests and you can fuck right off matey.

Chambers Bros, but only one Bro? How odd.

Now take me off your email list.

Alec, this site is a freight exchange of sorts, and was started by a courier company … is that not different?

It’s entirely different Chris, you and Mike have as far as I know always been open about your reasons for starting and continuing to run the site. Mike doesn’t hide the fact that he runs a courier company and as you’ve stated again recently you have no interest in turning this into a freight exchange and charging a subscription.

I made a comment recently about you or even COC doing the CX/MTvan thing properly but in reality I don’t think it would be possible. I don’t think a freight exchange can ever win the full trust of a wide membership if another courier company is involved in it. That’s actually what’s stopped me doing it – I’d have to give up a relatively profitable courier business in order to give my new-start freight exchange a chance of being a success. Maybe most owner-drivers would be fine with the idea but I’m sure a lot of courier companies wouldn’t touch it with a bargepole.

Back to Truckspace; comments like “Please do not get the impression that I am in this for the money. I have not created the site because I think Im going to get rich from all you guys. I just want to create a service that is useful to people and the transport industry because I enjoy it” are about as easy to swallow as “allocate all your jobs to your own drivers using MTvan Mobile; we promise we won’t peep”.
