Paperclips vs Staples

It’s simple economics Mike: staples cost less than 0.0628p each whereas paperclips cost over double that.

If you insist on paperclips you could maybe offer to send back the paperclips to the original sender in order that they might use them again and recoup their original investment. By the time you’ve returned the paperclip to them twice they would actually have saved money over using staples. If you were to present this to your customers as an actual saving I’m sure they’d see sense and use paperclips: it’s the only logical way forward.

I was assuming an ongoing relationship with the customer Mike – you could return the paperclip with your next invoice and POD, avoiding the use of a new staple or paperclip and therefore generating a tangible financial benefit for both your customer and your own business.
