HMRC aren’t classed as preferential creditors any more so there’s much more chance of receiving something after the liquidation.

Yes, they’re treated just the same as trade creditors.
The order goes: 1) Insolvency Practitioner, 2) Fixed charge debenture holder, 3) Wages & pensions etc, 4) Floating charge debenture holder, 5) Everyone else.
